KHNP head visiting Kazakhstan to win KNPP

Chung Jae-hoon, president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., is visiting Kazakhstan to win a nuclear power plant order. Kazakhstan is planning to build two nuclear power plants in the engineering, procurement and construction method.
According to the KHNP, Chung is visiting the central Asian country with officials from South Korean nuclear companies including Korea Electric Power Corp., KEPCO Nuclear Fuel and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co.
They met with Almassadam Satkaliyev, the energy CEO of Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna, and Timur Zhantikin, CEO of Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants (KNPP), the client of the nuclear power plant project.
KHNP submitted a technical and price offer (TPO) on May 31 to KNPP to participate in Kazakhstan’s nuclear plant project. The company is pushing hard to be selected as a preferred bidder. KNPP is expected to select a preferred bidder in September, according to KHNP.
