L&T-S&L engineered power plant MPPGCL achieves COD

L&T-Sargent & Lundy (L&T-S&L), engineered Unit 3 of state-of-theart 2x660 MW Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh, India successfully achieved COD on November 17, 2018 in record time of 46 months and 18 days from the effective date of contract. This has set a new benchmark in the power sector for indigenous plants. The EPC contract of this supercritical power plant at Khandwa was awarded to Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) in December 2014 by M P Power Generating Company Limited.
L&T’s scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of Units 3 & 4 (Stage-II) of the coalfired power plant on a turnkey basis. L&T-S&L partnered L&T in the journey of executing this EPC contract as EPC Engineer and overall plant engineering integrator.
L&T-S&L carried out complete Basic and Detail Engineering of the plant and also extended full engineering support for plant integration activities including procurement engineering, field engineering, commissioning support services. Additionally, detailed engineering of OEM packages of 400 kV Switchyard and Fire protection & detection system of entire plant was also undertaken by L&T-S&L for the first time to support L&T in split packaging philosophy.
L&T-S&L is also engineering partner to L&T for Ultra-Supercritical coal-based power project in Madhya Pradesh, 2x660 MW power plant at Khargone for NTPC.
